Ni4kids has a Ball at Cinderella, Market Place Theatre, Armagh

When Ni4kids received an invitation join the cast of Cinderella at The Market Place Theatre, with the promise of more singing, dancing and jokes than you can shake a magic wand at, we quickly jumped into our carriage and made haste to Armagh...

There are many events to look forward to once the doors of the Advent calendar start to open come December 1. Visits to Santa, traditional fayres and markets or a Christmas classic on the big screen. However one day out over the festive season screams Christmas fun like no other… Panto! Regular theatre goer, or not-so-much, Christmas just would not be the same without taking your brood to enjoy a magical spectacular on stage filled with over-the-top costumes, cracking one liners and of course, shouts of: ‘He’s behind you!’

The relaxed, intimate setting of Market Place Theatre makes it a perfect venue for families with younger children, particularly with access to the ground-floor stalls leading directly to the coffee shop and bar. The modern theatre, with comfortable tiered-seating, offers unrestricted views and makes you feel very close to the on-stage action – there will be no hiding from Fairy Godmother Nanny Magee (played brilliantly by Stephen Beggs) so don’t even try!

The timeless rags-to-riches story has been given a unique ‘Norn-Irish’ twist with ugly sisters, ‘Scary Mary’ and ‘Pastie Bap’ making the audience, from age 3 to 93, not only cry with laughter, but much to our kids’ delight they literally turn on the waterworks in another way too during parts of the show. And if you love a boogie, bring your dancing shoes because you won’t stay in your seat for long. Disco diva Nanny Magee will soon have you showing off your best moves as you try to keep up – our own Nanny did a great job!

If you like your panto loud, fun-filled and action-packed you will not be disappointed. There are also other lovely touches for families to appreciate such as the fairy tale’s dress-up costumes and photo booth props in the foyer. And there’s no need to make a Cinder’s midnight dash home at the end of the show. Hang about, chat to the cast and you might even get a chance to try on that famous glass slipper and meet Prince Charming.

The very best childhood memories are made on nights like these and we have certainly added this magical experience to our family’s collection. The clock is ticking so book now!

Cinderella runs at the Market Place Theatre, Armagh until Saturday December 24. Visit marketplacearmagh.com or Tel: Box Office 028 3752 1821
