Subway NI & Ulster Rugby Launch Youth Rugby ‘Sandwich’

Subway NI has teamed up with Ulster Rugby to give young players from across the Province the chance to take to the pitch during Ulster Rugby fixtures at Kingspan Stadium for the next two seasons.

The mini-rugby games will take place at half time of Ulster’s first team fixtures, ‘sandwiched’ between each half, and will see up to four youth teams display their skills in front of more than 17,000 spectators while their rugby idols watch from the sidelines.

Subway NI kicked off its partnership with Ulster Rugby earlier this year with the sponsorship of the Ulster Rugby Camps, which involve training camps across the Province giving young players access to expert advice and coaching, while also having the chance to meet their favourite Ulster Rugby heroes.

Scot Heyes, Subway NI’s Marketing Chairman said:

“Subway NI is committed to promoting a healthy and social lifestyle for kids, and taking part in a team sport provides the perfect platform for this.

“We are delighted to work with Ulster Rugby, to help develop rugby stars of the future, and want to thank the dedicated coaches, parents and volunteers who inspire, encourage and develop young people across Ulster, to get involved in the sport.”

Chris Webster, Ulster Rugby’s Domestic Rugby Manger said;

“The half-time mini rugby launch is a super initiative for kids passionate about the sport, and allows them to get a taster of what it’s like as a professional player.

“With the help of Subway, we are able to invest our time developing the Ulster Rugby players of the future and cultivate our growing community within the sport.”
