Halloween 2017

Stand out from the crowd this Halloween — use autumn’s woodland colours to create these weird and wonderful masks. They’re lots of fun, super easy, and make for a unique Halloween costume!

You’ll need:

• Autumn leaves of various sizes
• Thin cardboard (paper plate or cereal box would work great)
• String
• Scissors
• Acrylic fi xative spray/hot glue

STEP 1
Take a walk at a National Trust place near you and gather up a range of colourful leaves as you go exploring. Press them in a book for a few days, then spray them with acrylic fi xative spray - thispreserves them for longer.

STEP 2
Draw a mask shape on your cardboard. Let your imagination run wild - what shape will you make your mask?

STEP 3
Cut out the mask, making sure that the eye holes are in the right place. Punch a hole on each side, and tie a piece of string through each hole.

STEP 4
Use the glue to attach the leaves on the cardboard. Put the largest leaves on the outside, and the smaller leaves near the eye holes. Use your scissors to adjust any leaves that don’t fit, or cover the eyes.

STEP 5
Tie the strings around your head and have fun with your new autumn leaf mask!
