Mallusk Integrated Primary School recently launched ‘Break the Rules Day’, in support of this year’s Q Radiothon Campaign which takes place on May 24. Last year’s inaugural Radiothon raised a total of £96,000 for four equal beneficiaries namely Action Cancer, Cancer Fund for Children, Friends of the Cancer Centre and Marie Curie. This year’s Break the Rules Day will make a huge difference to these charities and help raise much needed cash towards this year’s target of £100,000.

Taking part in this exciting event allows schoolchildren to break a school rule for one day only. This innovative fundraiser is an opportunity for pupils to let their hair down and be mild rebels for the day – but be sure they know which rules they are allowed to break in advance! The main rule is just that everyone has FUN whilst raising funds! Pupils love seeing their teachers do something crazy too, so teaching staff get involved and get sponsored to wear something wacky to school.

Susanne Kinsella, Principal of Mallusk Integrated Primary School was delighted that her school was chosen to launch this year’s campaign saying; “We are delighted to be involved in ‘supervised’ rule breaking! Many people in our school family and the local community have been affected by cancer. At Mallusk Intergated Primary, we encourage our pupils to make a difference in the world. The children will certainly enjoy themselves breaking some rules, whilst being able to make a difference by helping to support services and research.”

By getting your school involved in this year’s Break The Rules Day you will be helping support adults and children across Northern Ireland affected by cancer, life-limiting and terminal illness.

Q Radio will supply your school with a fundraising pack, which can be downloaded from and has everything you need to make this as fun an event as possible. In return they ask that pupils donate £1 per rule break towards the Q Radiothon appeal. If May 24 doesn’t suit your school, you can ‘Break the Rules’ on another date of your choice before the end of term. All money raised can be donated at:
