Halloween at Ulster Folk Museum

October 29 - October 31

Step back in time at Ulster Folk Museum and experience a traditional ‘Samhain’ (pronounced sow-an), or Hallowe’en as we know it today.

The town of Ballycultra is not all it seems…it’s full of traditions and stories, some of which may give you a fright. While you’re exploring keep your eyes peeled for any unusual or unsavoury characters and listen as they recount spooky tales from times gone by.

Leftover turnips from the harvest will be carved with scary faces to help ward off restless souls, and you can try your hand at our special Hallowe’en crafts. There’ll be music in the streets from the Armagh Rhymers, appearances from Bangor Abbey Players and traditional Hallowe’en fayre to try.

Learn about the gory history of medicine in Northern Ireland with the team from Ulster University’s Epidemic Belfast podcast…not for the squeamish! And experience the magical prowess of magician Trevor Price.

  • Sunday 30th October 11:00-16:00
