Halloween Party Games you Need to Know

If you’re planning a Halloween Party this October you won’t want to miss out on these hair-raising Halloween party games

There is so much fun to be had with a Halloween party from the decorations to the fancy dress and even the Halloween themed food, but these hilarious Halloween party games will ensure your bash will be talked about for years to come…

Spooky Fossils

Pop some toy spiders – or any small spooky figures – in an ice cube tray and freeze until the spider is completely covered by ice. Once ready, let the kids use whatever child-friendly tools are on hand to extract their Halloween prize.

Bobbing for Apples

The original Halloween game, bobbing for apples is still a favourite up and down the country. If you haven’t played it before fill a basin with water, and with your hands behind your back, attempt to pick the apples up using only your teeth. This is a great crowd pleaser that promises lots of laughs.

Wrap the Mummy

For this Halloween party game you’re going to need a lot of toilet paper! Divide into two teams and nominate a mummy for the other team members to completely cover in toilet roll. Whichever team manages to wrap their mummy first, wins!

Pin the Spider on the Web

Another twist on a popular childhood game, pin the spider on the web will provide lots of fun for all the family. Start by drawing a spider’s web on a large piece of card – preferably no smaller than A3 – and colour in a bullseye in the centre. Next, make your spider by cutting out an oval piece of card for the body and attaching pipe cleaners on each side to represent its legs. Secure a large circle of blue tac to the back so that it sticks to the web. Take it in turns to try and pin the spider in the centre of the web whilst blindfolded.

Pass the Pumpkin

Much like the original Pass the Parcel, Pass the Pumpkin involves all party goers sitting in a circle and passing the pumpkin quickly in time to the music. Rather than unwrapping a layer of paper every time the music stops, whoever the pumpkin lands on when the music stops playing is out. Keep going until there’s only one person left not holding the pumpkin.

What’s in the Witch’s Cauldron?

For this sensory Halloween game, you’ll ned a selection of cauldrons filled with mysterious substances such as cooked spaghetti, jelly, or even water in which you’ve hidden a selection of marshmallows in. Blindfold the kids and let them hunt for the “brains” in the witch’s brew.

Ghord on a Spoon

You’ve heard of egg on a spoon but have you ever played gourd on a spoon? Miniature gourds are widely available at supermarkets in October and not only do they make the cutest seasonal decorations; they can also be repurposed for this competitive, party game. Get each child to place their chord and see who can keep it on the spoon the longest as they race up and down the garden.

Monster Mash

Pop on a Halloween playlist and challenge party goers to put on their best impression of a Halloween character for the duration of the song. Start off with ghosts and watch the excitement escalate as you move on to more difficult characters like pumpkins, vampires etc. Crown a winner at the end of each round.
