Heart Paper Plate Wreath

Here’s a perfect Valentine’s Day craft to create for children – designed to help with fine motor skills, this craft is exciting and educational!

You’ll need:

  • Red, pink papers
  • Paper plate
  • Silk ribbon
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • Black marker
  • Glue stick
  • Pink acrylic paint
  • Scissors
  • Red and pink yarn

Method:

Begin by painting a plate pink and draw a heart on red paper that fits in the centre of the plate

Draw eyes and a mouth and two pink circles for blush

Next cut out the circles and glue them on the face

Cut longer equal pieces of red and pink yarn and loop them onto the bottom of the plate

Take a piece of yarn, fold it in half

Take the yarn and loop it around the circle

You can make the loop by feeding the longer piece of the yarn into the hole of the top piece

Tighten the loop so it stays on the paper plate and don’t tighten it too much because you don’t want to rip it off the paper plate

Continue doing this until you feel as though you have a lot of pink and red string on the wreath

You can trim the bottom of the yarn to make sure everything is even

Take a piece of ribbon and straighten it out

Now take the heart that you cut out earlier and glue the ribbon onto the heart

Loop the top piece of the ribbon and glue it down to the paper plate

Once the wreath is completed, you can hang it up around the house or gift it to someone you care about.
