WWT Castle Espie has revealed its plans of staying connected with members and supporters whilst the site remains temporarily closed to visitors due to Avian Influenza. Through a series of stories and online activities the centre plans to reveal the #GiantSpiritofCastleEspie until the site can reopen.
Behind the scenes, the WWT Castle Espie team has been working hard to protect the birds at the centre and on the wider reserve. They have also been working closely with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs ensuring the necessary measures are in place as the team work towards reopening the site.
To keep people connected with this important place, WWT Castle Espie will bring to life a range of stories across social media from its staff, volunteers and supporters. Every week members and supporters of all ages can enjoy activities such as ‘mindful Monday moment’ featuring snippets of wildlife and nature caught on camera and short films from staff and supporters on what makes WWT Castle Espie a special place. Children will love ‘Learn along Fridays’ with WWT Castle Espie Learning Manager John McCullough. John will help children discover the people and place that makes WWT Castle Espie as well as welcome a very special guest just in time for Christmas.

“Avian influenza has impacted our conservation work, our charitable income and not least our ability to welcome visitors to the centre we all love and care for.
