If you’re looking for an unforgettable family day out or weekend escape this summer, Wake the Giant returns to Warrenpoint, Co. Down on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2026, bringing folklore, music, food and giant-sized adventure to the heart of Mourne Gullion Strangford.
Inspired by the legendary tale of Fionn mac Cumhaill, Wake the Giant has become one of Northern Ireland’s most distinctive family festivals, transforming Warrenpoint into a vibrant world of imagination, creativity and larger-than-life experiences.
New for 2026, visitors can discover The Giant’s Trail – an immersive, story-led adventure that winds through the streets of Warrenpoint. Follow the Giant’s Footsteps as you explore giant sculptures and larger-than-life surprises, uncovering new chapters in the legend of Fionn along the way.
Of course, no visit to Wake the Giant would be complete without experiencing the spectacular Giant’s Parade. Taking place on both Saturday and Sunday, the parade sees the mighty Fionn Mac Cumhaill come to life, filling the streets with giant characters, music, colour and unforgettable festival moments.
Live entertainment will keep the festival atmosphere buzzing throughout the weekend, with performances from legendary Northern Irish band The 4 of Us, Catherine McGrath, Britain’s Got Talent 2025 semi-finalist and local harpist Niamh Noade, Matt McGinn, Uplifted Gospel Choir, The Vibes, Patrice McKevitt, Sionán and Matt Benson.
Families will find plenty to keep everyone entertained in The Land of Giants, where Green Crafts, Curious Minds, the Bemusement Arcade, Garden Games and interactive experiences promise hours of fun. Green Crafts workshops and the dedicated Sensory Hub can also be booked in advance, while a quieter festival experience is available from 10am to 12.30pm each day, with reduced queuing, no loud music and fewer crowds.
Food lovers are equally well catered for, with the Giant Food Village serving up delicious street food, artisan produce and sweet treats, while the Giant Food Trail encourages visitors to explore Warrenpoint’s cafés, restaurants and eateries offering festival-inspired dishes throughout the weekend.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains, Wake the Giant is the perfect excuse to discover one of Northern Ireland’s most beautiful coastal towns. Whether you’re visiting for the day or making a weekend of it, you’ll find breathtaking scenery, welcoming hospitality and plenty to explore beyond the festival.
Wake the Giant takes place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2026 in Warrenpoint, Co. Down.
