The Big Hideout

Calling all budding birdwatchers! This half term, kids are taking over the bird hides.

Borrow a pair of binoculars or get crafty and make your own. Discover the wild birds that live in our wetlands – and how to tell them apart. And let your imagination soar with bird-themed activities.

Whether you’re a beginner with binoculars or a seasoned spotter, it’s the perfect time to step into the hides and discover something new.

When: 12 – 16 Feb

The Big Hideout’s big activities:

  • Monday 12th: Woodland birdwatching and bird orchestra

11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm

Connect to the sights and sounds of the wonderful woodland birds.

  • Tuesday 13th: Make your own fatballs and pinecone birdfeeders

11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm

Take home a lovely treat for the birds in your garden.

(£1 donation)

  • Wednesday 14th: Bird box building with the Grounds team

11am-1pm & 2-4pm

Take a bird box home for £5 or donate it to the site.

  • Thursday 15th: Mini-beast motels with the Reserve team

11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm

Hunt for mini-beasts and make them the perfect little haven in the woodland.

  • Friday 16th: Woodland birdwatching and bird orchestra

11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm

Connect to the sights and sounds of  wonderful woodland birds.
