Portaferry Gala Festival celebrates Emerald anniversary

Portaferry Gala, NI’s longest running community festival, celebrates 55 years. The festival returns with a 7 day programme 16th to 22nd July 2022.

The Gala opens with a fun filled day at the Parklands (adjacent to Exploris) including ‘Burger Fest’, with music, circus workshops and lots of activities for kids.

Sunday brings Gala at the Shore with a paper boat race, duck derby, live music, Irish/Scottish dancing, kids activities, adult challenge games, and emergency services display.

New Events include “Bingo Loco” and “Taste your Town”, a walking guided tour of local food, drink, produce and hospitality.

The New Vikings Exhibition will run all week at the maritime museum P.A.S.T.

Farm Community Day will have live fun and music with Ferry FM, along with Big Lunch and the new Toy Tractor Run. The Daera Family Health Bus will be on site, plus lots more countryside fun for the family.

The Portaferry 10 mile road race returns on Tuesday 19th July at 7.30pm with online entry and pre-registration at athleticsni.org

The finale of the week is “Talk of the Walk” – visitors are invited to grab a map and be entertained with a showcase in each participating street.

Ferry FM will be broadcasting from Portaferry throughout Gala Week, keeping everyone up to date with all the latest festival news on your smartphone or tablet. Send your song requests via ferryfm.com – they want to play the best from the past 55 years, so there’s plenty to choose from.
