Dawn Crothers’ Exhibition & Book Signing

April 2 - May 1

Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick is set to come alive with colour, imagination, and creativity as acclaimed Belfast artist Dawn Crothers brings her enchanting world of snails to a brand-new exhibition and special book-signing event.

This joyful celebration marks the release of Dawn’s debut children’s picture book, The Snail Artist — a beautifully illustrated tale that is already capturing the hearts of young readers, parents, and art lovers across Northern Ireland.

The exhibition opens on Thursday 2 April, with a special evening launch from 7pm to 9pm, and will run until Friday 1 May, giving families and visitors plenty of time to enjoy this vibrant and heart-warming showcase.

Best known for her vibrant, character-filled snail paintings, Dawn has transformed her much-loved studio style into a magical storytelling experience. Visitors to the exhibition will have the rare opportunity to see the original artworks from the book up close, each hand-painted in Dawn’s signature bold and colourful oil paints. The gallery will be filled with warmth, whimsy, and the uplifting message at the heart of the story: that creativity can take you anywhere if you dare to dream.

This event has been thoughtfully designed with families and children in mind. Young visitors will be delighted by the brave little snail who dreams big in The Snail Artist, while parents and book lovers will enjoy exploring the artwork that inspired the story. Dawn will also be on hand for book signings, friendly chats, and exclusive insights into her creative process.

Whether you’re a family seeking a magical day out, a child who loves stories and pictures, or a book lover who appreciates beautifully crafted illustration, this exhibition is an absolute must-see. Step into a world where imagination leads the way and discover a story that encourages every child to pick up a paintbrush and believe in their own creative spark.

Join us at Down Arts Centre for a heart-warming celebration of art, storytelling, and the joy of dreaming big. This is one event you won’t want to miss.
